Making images, not babies

before/after

June7

My exams finish on June 15th and then I have to go into major saving/working mode for America. I didn’t realize how expensive it would be, and apart from the occasional shoot I don’t have a job so I really need to find a way to get some money together.

Here are the things I have to save for:

Rent - $950 p/month (paid for by me, as aaron is furnishing the apt)

Computer - $600 max

Car - $2000

Car Insurance - $150/month (is this about right all you american 18yr olds? how much do you pay?)

bills - $200/month

food - $200/month

classes at a community college - $200 p/semester (ish)

and eventually

5D- $3000

eugh :( so much to save for. and none of these i can really get out of! so im pretty worried because im very broke. so if anyone out there wants to hire me for a shoot PLEASE DO! if anyone has any ideas or ways for me to make some money, let me know! i think i am going to call up some local hotels and try and get some work there photographing the rooms, bands i can keep doing when they come up and anything else like that… eep! help me!!!

Hi! I used to frequent your site quite a bit but because of life I haven’t been on in quite a while. I saw this post and there is one thing I wanted to comment on because I didn’t see it on your list and that is health insurance.

I realize just because you didn’t add it to your list doesn’t mean you aren’t thinking about it but I felt like I had to mention it. It is so vital that you have health insurance. Now maybe you all ready have this worked out as most schools offer some help in that department but if not you should look into it. Health care in the US is very different from health care in the UK. If you get sick or in an accident you will be financially responsible for those bills which could wind up being thousands of dollars or even hundreds of thousands if something quite bad happened. Please keep this in mind!

You are paying the entire rent?!?! That is sketchy…..even if he is providing the furniture, that seems a bit shady to me.

    Hey Rosie.

One thing about rent… As a 20 y.o. living with my boyfriend, who I love and plan to stay with…I would NEVER pay the whole rent. You should split that. Even if he is furnishing the apartment….if you break up..he keeps the furniture but you have already paid the rent money. (unless you have some sort of agreement about spliting things in that situation. )

I know how hard it is to live with someone who you consider your partner but you aren’t married to them. (So you have to consider limits legally for what you’d hope is “spending money on your future together”)

I hope you don’t take offense. I trust my boyfriend as much as you trust yours, but when money is concerned…relationships get more stressed.

    …just something to consider.

I found out about yall from an article on msnbc and I want to wish you the best of luck and success. I truly believe that you and aaron are going to make it work and be together. If I were where yall are at I would find a way to hire you just to help you out, but I can’t. So I am sending positive vibes and hope. Good luck Rosie, love conquers all if you don’t give up!

@LRC - I’m assuming the reason why she’s going to CC is because she’s planning on getting a student visa to stay in the country. Good luck Rosie, Aaron!
